The kings of aftermarket performance right now do not have V8's. The V10 Lamborghini Gallardo and V6 Nissan GTR are kicking ass and taking names of most of the V8 powered cars out there. The only exception is the V8 in the Ford GT, which I think still holds the record at the Texas Mile.
How are you defining aftermarket performance?
GTR engine needs FI as it would be a pig NA. Gallardo output no better than the Ford Modular 5.0 V8 and the former is a far more complex engine.

The only V8 that can currently hang with a modded Gallardo or GTR is the Ford GT powerplant. They are the top dogs for the Texas Mile, 60-130 times.

You come into a thread, and define your own qualifications as to why your own opinion matters? Great job! However, the single fastest 1/4 mile et is held by a v8 and you cannot change this fact. There's more to racing than the Texas mile, and therefore many different results. Besides, who would really want some wimpy looking rich guys car in his garage when you can have a Camaro.

But you are including the drive train and vehicles with your Texas Mile reference.
What I wrote is correct and you cannot dispute it and so go on a tangent. Typical of the Internet but not real world debating.

Plenty of GTRs and Gallardos getting smoked by v8s and turbo 6s. Just look on YouTube.

A NASCAR v8 makes more hp than the Gallardo does. And can probably make more if they were allowed to. A nitro fuel dragster V8 will make a v10 look like a 50cc outboard. Granted its a huge v8 but it is a v8. The simple word performance is so wide ranging its ridiculous.
What is performance? To me its more than straight line or top speed. Its a combination.

So then what are you talking about because you're comparing 250,000 dollar Lambo super car with 40-80,000 dollar Chevy cars. You comparing a truck or family car v8? You might want to read up on the corvette engine because it has a ton of innovation and technology.
I bet GM can easily match Lambo for hp. But there is more to performance besides hp
But if you spent 250k on a freaking car you should expect a bit more than the common car. Right?
