Almost all cars can exceed the limit of the talent behind the wheel . Post 11 is a perfect example of a driver running out of talent before his car reached max speed.
IMO most willing to drive 100+ on the highway have no idea they are way past their limit of talent.

100+
But that depends which car I'm driving. My SUV probably the same speeds I drive today around 80--we already have 75mph. The other cars, faster, possibly much faster, when nobody else is around...

Frankly, other people scare me. I was driving down the 53 in Schaumburg, IL the other day watching a woman (just saying) in a Dodge Caliber using the rumble strip as her guide as she texted her way down the road, tossing rocks and salt dust off the shoulder, people blaring horns all around. I don't even want to be on the same road as people like this, much less going 100mph.

I have a racing background in my past and am very comfortable driving or riding at high speeds......on the track. I don't rip it up on public roads because of other drivers, whether the traffic is normal, light or nearly non-existent. A problem can arise when you rocket by someone else who isn't aware that you were coming and you startle them half out of their wits. That can cause a very bad situation for the other person.

In my Team Stealth / IBA days (the Brock Yates version of team stealth if you're old enough to remember) we would travel at high speed between the groups of cars (we called them 'pods') that always clump on the interstates. You know, you'll have miles of open roads and then come upon a pod of 5 or 6 six cars all driving together for some unknown, biological reason. We would slow down to match their speed, then add 10, pass quietly, and then open up the throttle again as the road cleared in front of us. Keep an eye on the pods in front and back and it's a safe and sane way to make excellent time when you have to get there sooner rather than later and also a good way to avoid the eye of the highway patrol.

155mph and more than once. That is speed that the fuel is cutoff at. I didn't cruise at the speed, just got to 155mph for the hell of it and went back to 125-130mph.

155kph is only about 95mph.

As much as I love speed I don't think I would drive faster then 75mph. I like to relax and listen to my music and arrive home relaxed, not wound up. But that's just me.

I'd be more comfortable driving faster than 75 if Eisenhower had commissioned better Autoban quality roads.

I have a German car that feels like it's standing still at speeds under 80 mph, so I would probably go around 100-110 if it was a clear day with light to moderate traffic.

2) Traffic is fairly light, and it would be easy to maintain high speeds as long as you remained in the left lane.

3) It's a completely clear and sunny day.

4) Your car has good brakes and it can come to a full stop in a timely manner.
My choice of speed would include the above factors, as well as road conditions and which vehicle I'm operating.

motorcycle: 65
car: cruise control set on 80, perhaps higher if I was going 200 miles or farther
tanker truck: cruise control set on 70 (its governed speed), assuming that the road didn't have curves

I would try to break the speed of sound. Look out!

Seriously, it depends on the car, but I probably wouldn't go over 85 for very long, and I certainly wouldn't be in the left lane.
