I own a 2004 Crown Victoria and I'm just curious on your opinion. What do you think about the Ford Crown Victoria's?

I find it quite hilarious how everyone thinks you're a cop. Whenever I drive on the highways people are always afraid to pass me and slow down. I'm getting my windows tinted actually to 35%. I just don't like how people look into my car. I like the privacy. Maybe more people will think I'm a cop which isn't really my intention at all. When you see one, do you automatically think it's a cop?

Did you purchase a former police version or a standard commercially sold version?

cops don't drive them anymore but I think they're cool. Didn't know they were slow until I saw a minivan outrun them on topgear.

It's not a P71. It's a standard commercially sold version. It's a gold metallic. It has the factory rims and everything. It even has a chrome grill.

There are still so many departments that use them. Probably 85% of the Connecticut State Police still uses its fleet with Crown Vic's.

Crown Vics generally fall into 2 camps:

1. Cops
2. Blinged out big-rim cruisers running from cops

Joking aside, they're workhorses. Pretty bulletproof and reliable, incredibly cheap to fix by any backroads mechanic. Good, practical cars.

If you see a taxi with an "interceptor" badge by the left tail light it is a retired police cruiser.

Many police depts are going to PD versions of SUVs.

Put some fake radio antennas on it and you will really spook the cowboys.

They were tired old police cars and now they are even older and more tired taxi cabs. Oddly enough I like the police versions with the black grille and push bar. I would especially like a black and white unit complete with the aforementioned push bar and a spot light of course. The township where I live has phased them out for Chargers and now Taurus's but, nearby Cincinnati still has a large number of them on the streets.

Aside from the plastic intake manifolds cracking, they're solid cars. Truly last of a dying breed.

Or put a county sheriffs hat by the back window haha. I think tinted windows will scare more people than antennas.
