Not sure what you mean by safe but keeping it under warranty, yes. Don't mess with a new car if you've got a warranty.
Well if we were talking about a $50k car like the Scat Pack, than sure, but we're talking about having an affordable car that the Average Joe can drive and you're better off doing that and tuning to get a bit more performance. Hell, a decent tune and power flow intake is a reasonable way to increase performance a little for the money it may cost.
And I guess my car is the exception. It's been modded enough to handle the power it seems as I feel it performs pretty well.

It is pretty crazy the amount of HP even the base model Mustang is putting out at 305, which is higher than the stock GT HP of 2005!
I'd take seeing any pictures of you new Stang if you feel like posting any. That color sounds awesome.
I still remember the last mustang GT I raced in my WS.6. It was a 2002 with 4.10's, cams, LT's, tune, UD pulleys. It was kindof close, but he lost. I was stock down to the paper air filter. Ran a few times. Ran a few of the '05's, and pulled them by 2-3 cars from 60-90, typically. Never got a chance to race a 5.0, as I sold my WS.6 before they came out, and none of them wanted to run my Z06.
For the guy who wanted to see race red. Here she is sitting in my garage. Its dark out so I just shot this really quick in my garage with the light on. Im a horrid photographer lol
Don't forget the IRS is the initial year, and all manufactuers make sacrifices for various reasons. Some obvious, some not.
I'm sure Max Motorsports, Griggs, or whoever the new high end suspension modifier winds up being will quickly address the shortcomings and concessions that have been made.
Oh and by the way my car is filthy. I let it accumulate dirt until the next sunny patch and then take her to get a hand wash and wax. So that picture is a dirty race red :-P shes pretty stunning when shiny and its sunny out.

This is the frustrating part, to me. Ford's inability to produce a cohesive product. Why should you have to put aftermarket suspension components in your new ford just to turn the same lap times that your buddy does who bought last-year's model on clearance?
Muscle/pony cars have improved substantially - a fact worth admitting regardless of our brand/national loyalties or the concomitant cultural associations. But given today's options in materials, technology and manufacturing, it is rather disappointing that essentially all offerings - from every manufacturer - are so heavy. Stripped-down vehicles are not strong sellers, which might explain their rarity. Still, it would have been nice to see lower-weight, lower-content versions of the Mustang/Camaro/Challenger (minimal onboard electronics, reduced sound-deadening, thinner glass and so forth).
Not to exacerbate a brand-rivalry, but I'm cautiously optimistic about the 2016 Camaro and its reputed weight-loss.

I was all obsessed with the weight thing too, till I got one. I would say dont let the weight thing sway you till you drive it. It doesnt feel any heavier than my 05. I would say the clksest thing to he stripped down model you are asking foris a base GT like I got.The premium package ads in a whole lot of weight.
