Agreed.

Shrug, if the OP won't even take the time to go test drive one and do some research on them before overpaying for a 4Runner, they deserve to drive the lesser vehicle.

That's your opinion. I would much rather have a 4Runner than Porsche.

That's not an opinion. The 4Runner is a lesser vehicle. It's your PREFERENCE to have a 4Runner... because you don't know any better.

Lesser by what criteria?

The Porsche Cayenne is a luxury crossover and the 4Runner is a mid-size SUV. They're different vehicles, targeting different markets. I'd never buy a Cayenne simply because I'd be worried about denting its prissy European body on some of the roads I traverse.

Cayenne is one of those that are better in reliability than most other SUV's out there.

When oil change last 15k miles I have no problem paying more than double when compared to 3-5k mile oil...

so you only do oil changes for maintenance and that's it? Maintenance isnt just oil changes. What about other items that are in the maintenance intervals? How expensive are those?

There was another thread by the OP where I detailed a lot of that. Maintenance is probably cheaper on the Cayenne than a 4Runner, due to the long service intervals, because parts are very similarly priced. I also posted info on costs for common parts between the Cayenne and 4Runner, and the 4Runner actually had some parts that were way more expensive than the Porsche.

As far as reliability goes... for this price range, the 2003-2006 Cayenne was what we were comparing.

Toyota Tops J.D. Power Dependability Study

For 2003, Porsche actually had BETTER reliability as a brand than Toyota, just barely. For 2004, Toyota was on top, but not by much.

For 2005, Porsche beats Toyota again, by quite a bit.

J.D. Power and Associates

For 2006... Porsche falls off the map as a brand, but that was because they had redesigned the 911 with a new generation, new generation for the Boxster, and released the first Cayman models. The Cayenne was unchanged, so it's reliability would be the same.

The Cayenne is considered a midsize luxury SUV. The 4Runner is a midsize SUV. It's just not built to the same standards as a Cayenne, which is why it's the lesser vehicle. You'll never see a magazine compare the 4Runner to the Cayenne because it's not in its class.

Now while this is for 2015 models, the hierarchy really hasn't changed much at all in the last decade. The Cayenne is ranked as the #1 midsize luxury SUV, and the 4Runner is ranked #7 in the midsize SUV category. (You'll have to click on the Jeep Grand Cherokee or one of the other vehicles in the midsize category to show the ranking for the 4Runner, they don't even list it on their main page for best vehicles.)

tires & brakes too, pretty much it for my: Audi, MB, BMW, VW. Each lasted well over 100k with no issues what so ever for all mu past and present German cars.
I had my past cars traded in or sold before running into any problems and at the time of selling each of them was with no problems.

While I never had a Porsche (yet), my friends and family do and are happy with them not only superior drivability & handling but also reliability.
