right now i am looking into gently used Subarus as well as Toyota 4Runners.
AWD? Or 4WD? There is a big difference. Many who swear by one don't care for the other. The most gently used Subaru, Rav4, or CRV I could find would be my choice for AWD. For 4WD, the 4Runner, possibly some of the Jeeps. If I were buying 4WD though, I think I'd look towards a truck.
They depreciate fast, so used ones can be had for $15K. I have one now and it's incredible in the snow with good all-seaons, and with snow tires it goes anywhere.
I hate SUV's, and wanted a car with HP. Oh and I have 160K miles on mine with no real issues
for AWD car a late model Subaru WRX or a Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart for two speed high-low transfer case "traditional" 4-wheel drive either a Jeep Wrangler (TJ) Rubicon 4.0 I6 or 4.0 V6 Nissan Xterra
