This is what I was going to suggest. I have never driven one but every article I have read about them mention that they drive much better than their competitors.

Thanks, I'll start test driving some of the Asian SUVs - Highlander, MDX, CX-9. I think the backwards seating in wagons will make my kids car sick. I really only need 6 seats, so I am also considering trading in my old pickup for a new pickup (they get better gas mileage) with front bench seats. For a new pickup I don't mind spending $40k. I just threw out the $20k number as a reasonable price for a used vehicle. I just don't didn't want to elicit responses for $70k luxury SUVs since they are way out of my price range.

Why is the Ford Flex so cheap on the used market? $10-12k for a 2010-11 model with around 90k miles. How is the reliability on these things? Looks like it can fit 10ft long 2x4s easily which is a bonus.

Volvo XC70 with the tail gunner seats (rear facing) and the T6. Spin that turbo up and let it fly !

Not sure about the Ford aircraft carrier aka the flex. We had one 'trying' to chase us on the freeway recently, it started to overtake on the downhills only to lose it going up any sort of incline. Was the ecoflex and only the driver on board.

90K would be on the high side for my taste, I'd rather look at 50K and under (generally sound advice for any late-model used car).

No such thing.

Also, you have no idea what the driver was actually doing. I can promise you from personal experience of driving one in the Pennsylvania hills/mountains that the Ecoboost Flex loses nothing going uphill.

With those passenger requirements I suggest you drive a few late model mini-vans to find one that meets your diving feel requirements.
