Out of 200 MILLION drivers. Over 60% of drivers drive over the speed limit regularly (over 80% in some places). Less than .0006% die from it. Less than 1% get into accidents from it. Sounds like most people don't have an issue, only REALLY poor drivers do.

Drunk driving is still the #1 killer on the road.

Pretty sure everyone is aware that on a long trip it can save a lot of time, but otherwise it is miniscule.

I have always believed people who exceed the speed limit are impatient, anxious, pushy, maybe a little ADD/ADHD or just type A personality. For those people who regularly exceed the speed limit where do you normally drive fast and why?
I speed, therefore I exist.

Based on?

We those people also texting? Drunk? How much over the limit were they? Were they tailgating?

I would agree driving 145 is likely to cause death. Driving 80 instead of 70? Not really.

Come on dude you can't be that obtuse. Yeah you're right I don't want to cause a accident. Driving faster than everyone around you gives you and them less time to react to changing road conditions. 2-4 mph isn't much more than speedo error in most cases. Ive gone in the 67-70 mph but that's usually in the morning at 3 am. For the most part 65 is about as fast as you can drive around here because in the afternoon there is a ton of traffic. But when the word "speeding" is used it usually means someone driving well above posted limit and faster than the flow of traffic. Typically the speeding weaving in and out of lanes not the guy doing 4-5 over limit. I've been accident free for 20 years. Feel free to drive as fast as you want. I don't care what others do. I drive company trucks 95% of the time. Sorry I don't feel like losing my job.
Btw speeding is usually a factor in many accidents.

You can die in a accident doing 55. Driving faster just increases the odds of it happening

I'll go with this answer, as long as it's safe, going fast has always been fun, and part of what makes driving enjoyable.

I speed when the limit is stupid. For example, 0 traffic in the middle of nowhere New Mexico, super straight road, unlimited visibility and the limit is 65mph? I don't think so.
