How does anyone still get a no seatbelt ticket these days? Doesn't your car chirp and chirp and chirp at you until you put the damn thing on?
Mine chirps for about 20 seconds and stops. One of the things I like about my car (for the .001% of the time I don't wear a belt, or when my 300 lb FIL rides in my passenger seat).
OP, I was in a car that flipped over after hitting ice on the road. This was in CA, where there's ice on the road maybe once every 5-10 years (NorCal). If we hadn't been wearing seatbelts, probably our necks would have been broken. Because of the seatbelts, we were completely unscathed.
Wear your seatbelt. They're required for a reason.
how about when I am driving to the convenience store 1 mile from my house on 30 MPH city streets?
the seat belt laws were not originally to be a primary offense (i.e. you could not be pulled over if your only violation was the seat belt). being stopped just for a seat belt is bunk.
47 states require helmets on most motorcycle riders, 19 of them on all riders. You are therefore mostly wrong. The logic of requiring seatbelt use in vehicles is unrelated to the logic of requiring helmets.
You're kidding, right? The Supreme Court and other federal and states courts dozens of times have found that driving (non commercially) IS in fact an inalienable right.
Really. So why did I have to pass a written test, take lessons, attend a 5-hour pre-licensing class, and pass a road test administered by NYS DMV BEFORE getting my license? Why couldn't I just fill out an application, pay a fee, and get right on the road instead, and make my own rules of the road when I got there (like those drivers who rack up a DMV rap sheet)? Why is my keeping my license from being revoked or suspended dependent on me maintaining a clean driving record?

There is no risk to OTHERS simply because YOU are not wearing your seat belt.
Bullcrap. If you have passengers in the car with you and you get into an accident, your body, as well theirs, becomes a projectile.

Never assume that someone won't coming flying through an intersection and hit you. Any time you are driving on a public street you should be following all traffic laws.

In some states, like mine, it is a primary offense. And IIRC, NY was the first state to have a seat belt law.
I cannot believe it 9 pages for getting a ticket for not wearing a seat belt, this just might surpass the what kind of oil should I use, it’s the law people you have to wear a seatbelt my lord it’s been the law for decades and people are still debating this. It’s been the law since before most of you were born.
