I liked the look and reviews of the LaCrosse. Test drove a 2015/2016 and unfortunately too plasticky for me inside. That plus very limited visibility due to high trunk and large A pillars. Otherwise a very nice car.
It's a shame to see this happen. GM put a lot of money into cars like the Cascadia only to discontinue them a few years later.
The simple fact is that GM's cost too much and they lost people like me 20 years ago with a subpar product. My Father drove Cadillacs for 30 years before he smartened up and went to a Lexus. Never an issue. I drove Cadillacs and Lincolns for almost 15 years. They always had a problem. I went German and Japanese back in 2001 and never looked back. I pity people who drive an American car.
They're awesome now and pretty reliable/durable for the most part. It's safe to drive an American car again. Excellent safe choices are Ford Fusion S, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Tahoe, and Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger V8. I would say all of these are more "built like a tank" than most Japanese cars now.

I actually was surprised when they discontinued Oldsmobile but kept Buick. I thought Olds had done pretty well with "not your father's Oldsmobile" but Buick was definitely your grandpa's car...and to me, it still is. I'm in Florida and most of the Buicks I see are all old folks. That said, I thought the LaCrosse was a pretty darn good-looking car. But Regal? I had no idea that nameplate was still around!

Buick only still exists because of China. In China Buick sells more than Chevy!
