I generally like the look of the Volvo S90. Not sure if it would give me that roomy, smooth, grandpa car experience I'm really looking for. https://www.volvocars.com/us/cars/s90/

I am more familiar with the older S70 and S80... regarding those, anyway, Volvo makes a very nice car, quiet, very comfy seats, high quality feel inside, the structure is very solid, outstanding safety, and while not cheap, a good value. Not as sporty as a BMW or Audi, but given what you've said, you prize comfort over handling. Not sure how the S90 has evolved from the S80?
Toyota Avalon or Lexus ES. If budget doesn’t matter, a Mercedes S class Maybach is $200k…which is weird to me as the AMG S classes are noticeably higher priced than Maybach.
That was my immediate thought. Didn't know it was being discontinued. Nice cars.
What car is currently being manufactured that could be considered a grandpa car? What's the closest thing to a big Cadilac or Lincoln or Crown Vic from the 80s / 90s? I want something roomy, super smooth ride, beautifully understated classy exterior. Must be a car, not an SUV. Thanks for any suggestions!
I'd tend towards a Mustang GT or Corvette Z06.
For cars you're going to have to look at Japanese or German makes, some can be quite pricey.

Y'all may laugh (maybe for good reason,) but the venerable CORVETTE is an old person's car. They're fun to drive, too. The previous 3 or 4 generations can get 30mpg on the freeway, too. Even at 75mph.
Now, double that speed, and they'll barely get 19mpg....
