Nope! For us, it's convert. all the way! We much prefer the lines on the Spider! I under stand about the weight that goes along with it....but....She's got plenty of "vrrrooommmm" even with it.
No...no daily driver...DH is a stickler about putting miles on his "special" cars. She has her special place on the top bunk of a lift we have in the garage
I'll be sure to let DH know he's not considered a "serious driver or enthuisiast"!
Well, I take back the enthuisiast comment, but I just dont see how a serious driver (ie track racer, etc) would choose a convertible over a hard top. What Im trying to say is that a hardcore driver will not pick a Viper roadster over a Viper ACR.
Not to worry Steve-o, no one will lose any sleep over your comments
I can appreciate your point of view. Actually, our son, who is a MasterTech for BMW, cringes every time we buy a convert. He says the same thing....weight! I contend, the Ferrari will never see the track...I'm sure the Ins. company will appreciate that!
My 911 C4S is rarely driven with the top up! It has to be more than 60 degrees and no rain....other than that...top is down. I had one woman ask me if I had a top to the car since she has never seen it up!
If they were serious drivers/enthuisiasts, HELL YES.
You don't get it. 99% of the population couldn't tell the performance differences between an F430 Spider and coupe. How many people do you know who bought an F430 for serious track duty? I don't know any either. To illustrate this point even further, VERY few people bought the 430 Scuderia for track duty, and it's a purpose-built track car.

Depends on where the car will be driven. Since this whole thread is about cars for the street, I'd say that a lot of "hardcore" enthusiasts would happily pick the SRT over the ACR. There just aren't any places on the road that an ACR will shine, and the 600 hp SRT is more than adequate to move you through traffic with a grin on your face.

I do get it. I said SERIOUS DRIVERS wouldnt pick the convertible over the coupe. And if you think "99%" of the population cant tell the difference between a Spider and coupe (big difference), then they shouldnt be in that car in the first place. Those people belong to the "look at me, look at me" crowd and sadly buy Ferraris for image purposes it seems.
And FYI, my old boss has a F430 coupe (which he traded his 360 Spider in for) that sees TONS of track time at the Autobahn racetrack here in Joliet, IL (as well as his Elise and Atom). Same for his buddy who has the F355 Challenge. Those, my friend, are serious drivers and opted for the coupe specifically for track duty. Next time I go to the track, the camera is coming with me and Ill show you the Ferrari loyals who show up in mass with their coupes, not a 'vert in sight. Do you get my point now?
