Thank you C5Aprea! My dad worked for GM for 30 years and so I was always a corvette gal! I tease my DH all the time, that he married me only to get Dad's discount on Vettes!
To buy a F40 or F50, you had to own several Ferraris prior to taking order. In other words, Ferrari just didnt offer it to any Joe Schmoe off the street who wanted the most expensive Ferrari they could find to use as a status symbol. Sure many of the buyers bought them and drove them little, but most of them have seen track times because you dont buy a car like a F40 or Enzo to drive it to church on Sunday or parade it through Beverly Hills like some damned Playboy model. Just go on YouTube or Streetfire and watch all the track day vids featuring said cars. Those owners bought their cars because they know what theyre made for, and it sure as hell aint to be used as some kind of lame status symbol.
And I dont care what F430 Spider buyers think about what I think of them. Its their prerogative to buy a Spider, so let em. Im sure there are cars they dont like, too, and let em voice their disapproval all they want. And maybe, juuuuust maybe, there are some cars you dislike as well. GASP
Whats wrong with just driving an enzo or f40 just because you want to have fun outside of the track?
And if you think "99%" of the population cant tell the difference between a Spider and coupe (big difference), then they shouldnt be in that car in the first place. Those people belong to the "look at me, look at me" crowd and sadly buy Ferraris for image purposes it seems.
Yea I agree. And what most people don't know is that Mr. Enzo stated that he wants his cars to be driven hard because they are race cars. Sadly, these cars are so expensive that they only fall into the hands stock brokers and CEO's who do just the opposite and baby the car by day and pick up h88kers at night.
It's a interesting dichotomy because you pay so much for the car so you don't want to trash it but at the same time it's a race car!

This is why I'd sooner buy a 911 or even a 911 turbo instead of a Ferrari. The 911 is going to depreciate anyway so you might as well drive the snot out of it. My sister and brother-in-law have a 22-year-old Ferrari with 29,000 miles on it -- which is about 4,000 more than when they bought it NINE YEARS AGO. The thing just sits in their garage like it's a museum piece. And I could understand if it was a rare vintage Ferrari and really was a museum piece... but this is a 328 for crying out loud, not exactly a top draw at Barrett-Jackson auctions. So then, what's the point? Why not just get a full-scale replica if you're just going to leave it in your garage and stare at it once in a while?
ShelbyGirl, did you ever consider getting the Bugatti Veyron 16.4?
