I agree that after 25 model years of the same basic shape, it's time for the 'Vette to see a more radical redesign. OTOH, Porsche has been selling something with the same basic shape for like 40 years now. So, i don't expect GM to be in any rush to change the Corvette.

That concept Vette looks a bit radical for my taste. I think it's due for a change but that's OTT.

Maybe this is slightly OT but: Who is of the opinion that C1 should have been split in two between '55 and '56?

Maybe there are some similarities but I always saw that there was a definite divide when the '56 came along.

I've enjoyed every minute of owning my Corvette Z06. It can be a daily driver to work and a monster at the track all in the same day. I've had zero mechanical problems with it, unlike the nightmare of a Porsche that I used to own.

So what if new-age hipster kids aspire to Infinitis and Audis nowadays? What the hell does that have to do with anything? That just makes me like my Corvette even more. I didn't buy my car to be "upscale" or for "status". I bought it to have a great looking and performing sports car that would kick the crap out of these garbage cans.
Ditto. I've had mine over a year now.

Everyone I've met loves the Z06....Ricers, old-time car guys, gradeschoolers that don't know a vette from a porsche but trip on the sidewalk pointing and staring at it.

Plus, those are STICKER costs. I got a new Z06 for 61k....I should have been wearing a ski-mask.

I always thought the C1 should be split into 2 also. There are alot of differences in them, both what you see and under the skin!

The C6 is so close to being a perfect car, it just needs a better interior. Bob Lutz didn't get to it in time, but if you look at the latest GM products, the C7 will finally have the interior quality to match the interiors of the more expensive cars the Corvette already dominates in performance handling and power. You can't beat a Corvette's performance based on price, but there's no reason the interior is crap when $25k cars are nicer inside.

Drove a C5 for three years - kind of sucked as a commuting car; too rough for a 50 mile round trip commute. Upgraded to the XLR-V (we all know that's just a fancied up supercharged 'Vette) and haven't looked back.
Awesome.
