I've only paid more than $5000 for a vehicle once: My 1999 Dodge Ram. After shelling out a monthly payment for a few years only to sell it for $3500, I knew I would never, ever do that again. I've paid $3300, $2200, $1600, and most recently $1000 for my other cars. All of those cars were just as reliable and loads more fun to drive than the Ram, though it was a great truck. Actually, if I had the money to buy a new bottom-of-the-line car, I'd probably use a 3rd of that money to make my Wagovan like new. I just can't think of a new car I'd even want over my current car, not that I could possibly afford one anyway.
A few years ago a Camaro owner was giving me a hard time about driving a VW, guess where his car was made.
Yes, they complain about not driving American cars, and then flop their American butts on their foreign made sofas in front of their foreign made flat screen televisions, and drink beers out of their foreign made glass mugs.
A Camry V6 or Accord V6 will absolutely blow the doors off of a Fusion. Actually, it is the other way away around.
Where are you getting that a Camry V6 will "blow the doors" off of a Fusion?
The top-end Camry has a mere 5 hp more than the Fusion SE (268 vs 263). In virtually every head-to-head test the Fusion will also out accelerate the Camry (5.8 0-60 vs. 5.4). I'm sure the Fusion's AWD (vs Camry FWD) and 300lb lighter weight helps.
With the Fusion having more aggressive styling, better quality, Sync, and a $4k lower pricetag, it's really a no-brainer. Yes, I did say better quality, the majority of quality surveys and tests have the Fusion beating out both the Camry and the Accord. Maybe the Japanese had better quality than Ford in the 80's and early 90's, but now it is just a myth.
