I always spend more than 5k for a car.. and I always buy new and pay cash. My several cars were MINI Cooper S' (hard top and convertible) and now an Impreza GT with the turbo charged engine.

The top-end Camry has a mere 5 hp more than the Fusion SE (268 vs 263). In virtually every head-to-head test the Fusion will also out accelerate the Camry (5.8 0-60 vs. 5.4). I'm sure the Fusion's AWD (vs Camry FWD) and 300lb lighter weight helps.

With the Fusion having more aggressive styling, better quality, Sync, and a $4k lower pricetag, it's really a no-brainer. Yes, I did say better quality, the majority of quality surveys and tests have the Fusion beating out both the Camry and the Accord. Maybe the Japanese had better quality than Ford in the 80's and early 90's, but now it is just a myth.
I was not aware that they have upgraded the engine in the Fusion. The top model Fusion had 200 horsepower, and went 0-60 in 7.5. This is what I was referring too. Thanks for letting me know this.

Your Element was made in Japan, and then assembled in Ohio.

I do not know about the brand new ones, but my friend's 1993 Z28 was made in Canada.

At a factory in Ohio. I appreciate the fact that Honda factories in Ohio are employing people, and that those people are making decent wages with benefits, and can put a roof over their heads and food on the table for their families. They are contributing to their local and state economy.

What would you propose? That because it's a foreign owned company, they shouldn't be allowed to set up shop here? They still have to pay livable wages and TAXES here in the states. But it's okay for Ford and GM to go and open factories in Canada and Mexico, because their arrogant, oily, cigar smoking executive happens to have been born in America?

I suppose you're serious.

Unless every car from an "American" company uses nothing but American parts made by American companies in American towns, then this conversation is pointless.

I prefer to purchase cars from American companies.

Ford, General Motors, Chrysler.

I have purchased Volvos - but, they have been owned by Ford.

No problem, bro. I got one as a daily driver, after I test drove the Gen2 sport version, I was hooked.
