If they have a search warrant for the area they are flying over, then I don't have a problem with this. But I suspect there will be many drone flights without warrants.
The don't need a search warrant.

Can I use drones to spy on government? Or politicians? Or corporations?

They are looking into your home.

Man are you naive.
I used to run illegal wire-taps and then get warrants through other means to legally search.
You're limited only by your imagination, and as a last resort, I can always use the "anonymous tip" or get one of my paid informants to say whatever I tell them to say.
At 1:00 AM, the judge isn't going to be talking to my informant anyway. I'm going to call the judge and fax a copy of the warrant to his home for him to sign (or drive to his home).
The sheriff here has a helicopter with forward-looking infrared and thermal imaging. They can see "grow lights," meth labs etc. It'll be there 2-3-5 days from now. Plenty of time to get a warrant together through legal means.
I used to walk through parking lots in bars/night clubs and kick tail-lights out, then sit down the road and pull people over later because "they had a tail-light out."
Usually good for a DWI and/or drug bust.
There's always a way, it just depends on how clever you are.

I'm waiting for one of our local constitutional experts to explain to me how getting a search warrant and then using a drone to spot the 3 guys is wrong. Please, do not embelish and alter facts by claiming that next thing you know they will just fire a hellfire missle at the guys and abolish trials.
It sounds to me like they wanted to raid the place, because they called themselves a militia. I think the cattle may have just been an excuse. He wanted to search for his cattle on their 3000 acres. When denied, supposedly at gunpoint, he brought the big guns with drones. I don't like it. It is an invasion of privacy. It is a great imbalance, and puts all the advantage with the authority. When you give the gov't this kind of power, in the name of crime prevention- we have lost. This is what they mean when they say giving up liberty in the name of safety - safety for whom, certainly not for us subjects. This subjugates the rights of the individual, on private property, to the state. It's a frightening development that must not be allowed without open public discussions and input from judiciary. Prepare for the unintended consequences.
Why did you even start this thread, then? If cops just lie about everything, then the technology they use is irrelevant.
You mustn't of had much dealing with police or known many on a personal level...
The technology matters because just it is just like the lie of police being 'outgunned' and needing automatic weapons and armored vehicles...it makes matters worse.
No knock raids using militarised police are pretty much the norm.
Now IF these criminals HAD been armed would the Drone then taken them out with a Hellfire missile? You betcha and that is going to start soon! It will be done to 'protect" law enforcement and for the general publics "safety" of course. And don't forget all the evile "extremists/domestic terrorists" you know who the DHS/FBI has listed - Patriots, homeschoolers, Christians, anti-NWO folk, returning Iraq/Afgan Vets ect. So get ready to start seeing Drones taking out Americans in America just like they are doing globally.
In the name of safety most of us agree that intrusive police action against criminals is needed. It makes us all safer and will never be used against us because we do not commit any crime.
People have believed crazier things. There are always people attracted to policing because they consider everyone to be a criminal. The irony is that, after enough spying and repression, everyone does become a criminal in a futile attempt to keep some control over their own lives.
