Is this (the bolded portion) true? I was under the impression the seat had been sold to a standby passenger. My opinion could be swayed a bit (but not totally if the seat was going to be vacant anyway.
Why not watch the video yourself? Maybe I'm wrong and who knows what was said before the video began recording. I just find it odd that we are hearing so many new facts that didn't come up in the video.
Unless, of course, that passenger is a young child. Then the passenger can fly with no restraint system at all - and no emergency oxygen, either.
There are extra oxygen masks for lap infants. It's the responsibility of the flight attendants and gate agents to make sure lap infants are placed into seats where they will be accessible. (So no three lap infants in the same non-bulkhead row because there aren't that many extras per row)
For those who are saying they were offered compensation, you should watch the entire original video. No compensation was ever offered. The airline employee clearly said, at 6:47 in the video, "At this point you guys are on your own". That does not sound like any offer of compensation that I have ever heard of.
