All those communities you mentioned exist in Baltimore in small numbers..but growing due to NY/NJ/DC/Philly/California and international transplants. I'm out in the streets and communities..so I know of what I speak of.

Yeah, I just said those types are not in the CITY in enough numbers so those kinds of venues won't exist within city limits, that's all. I'm not saying there is no black middle class in the area itself. On the contrary, there are lots of them spread out among the counties, but not enough of the upscale subset in any one place to have a scene except maybe in Columbia, save the DC area.

Those venues tend to be in DC and the surrounding area because thats where there is a critical mass of money and/or progressive types are.

*How do you even know this? Have you done any research with empirical evidence to back this up? Columbia is one of the most sterile communities outside of Baltimore. SMH!

I don't KNOW if there is a scene in Columbia or not. Hence the word MAYBE. LOL. There is a black middle class presence there though.

You have this habit of half reading what I posted then going off on a rant over stuff I didn't say. This is the second time in this thread alone! Dude. Chill.

I recall the owner of Edens stating something to the effect that there arent enough of the right type of "people" who appreciate ultra lounges in Baltimore.. which is why he closing up and moving to Atlanta which he felt was a better market. Ironically, I would think that ATL would be saturated with that type of place.. but I guess not. Edens had a good run.. but went down after the off duty BPD officer murdering a patron over a pat on his girlz the azz and a few stabbing incident.. It chased of many of the white patrons, politicos (I once saw Shelia Dixon and Sen. Catherin Pugh in there for various events). Many of the white patrons used to come for the ethiopian food for happy hour along with many professional african americans.. but the crowd quickly changed after 9pm and on weekends.. especially after the aforementioned incidents. Same thing happended to Select Lounge.. which suffers from a triple murder (one police officer) and from being in the wrong end of downtown..... You have to have a broaden horizon to hang out in Bmo now adays.....or simply stay home....

Atlanta is just overall better in so many ways for Black people, it's not perfect, but you do see Black wealth, diversity and development. That is just my opinion.

Naw, moving to the Atlanta area is would be a total upgrade in terms of mature African American nightlife. Black Baltimore just doesn't get it and don't think they ever will. For a progressive minded African American living in majority African American city want more cultural and entertainment offerings, they must step out, and position themselves around different ethnicities, cultures and so forth. You have to most definitely broaden your horizons in this respect. This goes out to these hillbillies, inter-generational yo boys, bamas and chicken-heads locked into their stagnant ignorant ass neighborhoods.

Black Baltimoreans don't like to travel outside of their neighborhoods!

Atlanta does seem like an oversaturated market for that type of establishment.
