The majority of Baltimore residents speak AAVE not this Appalacian derivative dialect.

Well, demographically, this would be true when speaking of the city itself -- most of us are talking about the Baltimore area as a whole, including Baltimore County.

I went to the University of Colorado in the mid-'70's. One night, "Pink Flamingos" played at one of the campus theaters. I had never seen it, but knew that it had been made in Baltimore. I went to the showing with several of my friends. About ten minutes into the movie, the guy sitting next to me (who was from Southern California) turned to me and said, "Jesus Christ, Glom, EVERYBODY in this movie sounds EXACTLY like you!"

Definitely one of the most unique accents I've ever heard. What do you think is the influence?

that Crabcake dialect! If a crab could actually talk, they'd probably sound like Baltimoreans and Marylanders in general.
