Astros/Padres game and Rangers/A's game.....both start in under 15 minutes.
Three outs Away!!!!!

Gotta love it....Astros go into an inning behind 4-2 (with 1 of the 2 not from HRs) and then get 5 runs off of 6 singles and two ground rule doubles to lead 7-4.....onls one run given up since to chip away to 7-5....7-5 Astros lead going into the 9th.

ETA: Rangers just won 3-2, Padres down to their last out against the Astros.

ETA2: Astros just won 7-5 ....Only way the day could hav been better within the division would have been with a Rangers loss. Astros now have the advantage over the Mariners in the loss column...Mariners now have one more loss than the Astros (Rangers already had more losses the Astros and more losses than the Mariners).

ETA3: Last 10 games...Astros are 6-4, Mariners are 4-6, and Rangers are 3-7

ETA4: Tucker now leads the American League with 101 RBIs.

Life is good tonight!

Finally ended the home drought with a comeback in the 5th inning. Astros win over the Pods.

Rubber game is tomorrow. Astros are now a game and a half over Seattle.

Love it !.....Mariners just lost again (6-3 today) to the Rays, A's lead the Rangers 4-3 after 3, and the Astros lead the Padres 4-0 after 5.

ETA: 6 hits in a row so far in the 6th for the Astros, Bases loaded, nobody out, now new pitcher....new pitcher hits Altuve on the first pitch....Now 8-1 Astros...Rangers still losing 4-3 (5th inning). Pena safe at first on play on his 'hit' = to home and catcher drops the ball for the Padres third error of the game. Then sac fly for Alvarez, then sac fly for Bregman...now two out 11-1 Astros.............Astros tie their record of 7 runs in an inning....then Tucker triples off the wall (his second triple of the game) and Pena scores...12-1 Astros lead....NEW ASTROS RECORD FOR RUNS SCORED IN AN INNING WITH 8...then Singleton fouls out.

ETA2: Rangers get the lead back 5-4 when they score two runs on a throwing error . Mushinski gives up solo HR....12-2 Astros......Rangers then break the game open in the 6th with single/triple/HR/HR..9-4 Rangers.

Actually, it can be noted that Tucker hit those two triples in the same inning. That had never happened before in Astros history.

Yeah, and that was only the 11th time in MLB history that a player has hit two triples in one inning, and only the second time since 1962. The last time was in 2006.

I'm loving this day in sports....the 49ers won, the Raiders won, and Novak won the U.S. Open in tennis. The only way it would have been better would have been the Rangers losing and the Texans winning.

The Giants are on ESPN's Sunday Night game right now, and hopefully they will win......and speaking of triples.........as I'm typing this post, Estrada tripled for the Giants in the first.......'a weekend of triples'......and those two triples Tucker hit were his first triples of the season. Giants didn't get a run off of their triple, but in the next half inning Goodman triples for the Rockies, but knocks in a run in the process. Then Goodman comes in on a Sac Fly, and the Giants are losing 2-0.

ETA: I wonder what the record is for total MLB triples in any one calendar day ?

Astros have to be in must-win mode. They'd better be. We've got Oakland coming up at the Juice Box. Framber takes the hill tonight. Must see a quality start from him.

The quality start was there (barely re runs).....but no run support .

The Mariners complied re keeping the status quo standings wise a few minutes ago by losing 8-5 in 11 innings.

The Rangers didn't comply, beating another potential playoff team (Toronto 10-4).

Astros lead over a second place team shrinks by half a game.

Hopefully Tuesday's game will look like JV's start versus Scherzer or even better from him, and the offense will look more like that game.

JV and the Astros lost yesterday, and the Mariners and Rangers both won.

Hopefully the Astros can win tonight to avoid being swept.

The Mariners already won today.

Rangers up on the Blue Jays 4-0 in the top of the 4th.

For the Astros......0-0...Brown no hitting the A's through 3, with 5 strikeouts.

ETA:.....bottom of the 3rd....Meyers flys out, Altuve walks, Pena walks, then HR for Alvarez.....3-0 Astros !!!!!.........second hardest ball Alvarez has ever hit.....117.0 mph exit velocity....#1 was a 117.9 mph exit velocity out (not even a hit).....next...HR for Bregman.....4-0 Astros lead.

ETA2: 28 pitch 4th for Brown (68 total), but no runs and no hits (2 walks), and two more strikeouts for 7 Ks overall....Rangers now leading Toronto 6-0.

ETA3: 10 pitch 5th for Brown...still no hits and no runs (hit a batter in the 5th, and two previous walks).

ETA4: 2 out single for Brantley in the 5th. Diaz doubles, Brantley scores...5-0 Astros....Rangers now up 7-0 on Toronto...After last night, Rangers own tiebreaker over the Blue Jays.

ETA5: Dusty takes out Brown. Montero starting the 6th....Brown - 78 pitches -- No runs, No hits, walked 2, hit a batter, struck out 7................1-2-3 inning for Montero (13 pitches, 1K)

ETA6: 13 pitch 7th for Neris (1K).....Combined no hitter for the Astros staff so far...no hits, no runs, 9 Ks, 104 pitches.....Rangers still up 7-0...top of the 9th for them....Bottom of the 7th - 2 out HR for Tucker (100th of his career)....6-0 Astros.

6 pitch 8th for Abreu with another K.....Astros pitching through 8: No hits, no runs, 10 ks, 110 pitches.

ETA: Pressly gives up a single to the 3rd batter in the 9th.....No hitter gone....Rangers now up 10-0 on the Blue Jays.....Pressly gives up another single...Now 6-1 Astros.....Sac fly for the Astros, 6-2 Astros.......Pressly strikes out final batter....Astros win 6-2.....Rangers won 10-0.....standings re the three, same as beginning of today, just one more game completed on the schedule......Astros and Mariners both off tomorrow with Rangers still in Toronto (Eovaldi vs. Gausman).

ETA2: ESPN.com says Alvarez HR was 117.7 not 117.0 (what was announced), but that's still below the 117.9 of his hardest hit ball (an out).

Friday 9/15.....All three teams vying for the postseason in the AL West lost.....but the Mariners lost to the second best team in the National League, and the Astros lost to the worst team in MLB.

Greinke should probably hang it up at the end of the season (even though he is so close to 3,000 strikeouts).
