Scherzer was 4th in the NL at 3.16, Hendricks 5th at 3.20, and Lester 7th at 3.42.

Kluber at least did lead the AL in DIPs.

I agree with your other selections. I would vote for Trout, but I suspect that Betts is going to win.

I understand your complaint about inconsistency re Britton/Sanchez. However, I think that starters and relievers should have separate awards. A great reliever still only will pitch around 75 innings, compared to 220 or so for starters. A truly great relief season might generate 5 WAR (Britton did 4 WAR in 2016, an outstanding achievement) while a great starter could go 9 or 10 WAR. It isn't fair to judge them by the same methodology.

That's why they should create a Cy Young award for relief pitchers starting next year. That way we can separate the starters from the relievers and give relief pitchers, who are often overlooked, their day to bask in glory.

There is the Rolaids award, but that just goes to whoever had the most saves. It lacks prestige. We do need the equivalent of a Cy Young for relievers, but do we call it the Hoyt Wilhelm Award? The Rollie Fingers Award? The Mariano Rivera Award? The Ricky Vaughn Award?

What are the Braves thinking by signing a pair of 40 plus year olds to fill out their rotation? Does this mean that they think that they will be competitive next season? If not, it is hard to understand why they would want to overpay for a couple of pitchers who will not be around when the Braves are next poised to contend. Why not give those spots to young guys to see what they can do and give them some experience?

Braves fans may know more about the reasoning behind this.

Awards will be announced this week.
Today: Rookies
Tuesday: Managers
Wednesday: Cy Youngs
Thursday: Most Valuable Players

No. Its holdovers and to "eat innings" until their young pitchers come up.

But why use pitchers who are going to be retired when Atlanta next contends? Why spend the money if you aren't planning to win? If they are placeholders, couldn't Atlanta have gotten the same function for a lot less money?

It builds a more reasonable attendance base than goin 54-110.

I should think they'll have a decent attendance base this year regardless because of the new stadium.
