ACC is having a down year...typically UNC and Duke would be in or around the top 5 nationally and a few other teams would be really good (usually FSU/NCSU/Clemson/VT).
As a Duke fan, we are playing with house money this year...next year we hang up the fifth banner to tie UNC/Indiana. Bring on the recruits.
I loved hearing the long time ACC announcers, at the end of the pitt vs clemson seminar, say how they were looking forward to the big pitt-cuse rematch..and duke-unc the same day was the "undercard".
That had to irritate tobacco road as much as jim did when he said "this wasnt an acc game this was a big east game"
Syracuse is getting a little too jacked up about Duke coming to town.
Syracuse has won a championship and goes to one Final Four per decade. People around here should act like they've been there before and not get so excited about the arrival of the 17th ranked team in the nation.
Centro buses are actually flashing "Beat Duke" as they roll around town. I don't recall that ever happening with our real rival, Georgetown!

Technically, since the NCAA expanded the tourney in 1975, they've been there three times, or once every 13 years on average
Maybe part of the problem is that your so-called "true" rival has only been relevant for a few moments since 1985. Then again, your fanbase likes to live in the past, citing "Helms Championships" from the 20s and 30s and whatnot. Y'all want to consider yourselves "bluebloods", yet as you yourself stated, you've got only the one championship since forever. Florida and UConn both have two in just the past ten years.
Besides there's just not much to get excited about thus far in the ACC.
fwiw, this could well be the first time I've ever rooted for Duke.

Hate to break this to you, but 86-87, 95-96, 2003-04, 2112-13 count as four final fours since their 74-75 final four. That's 4 final fours in 38 seasons, including three championship games and one championship. That's one Final Four every 9.5 years.
Of course, fans of other former Big East teams turned current ACC teams usually have little to no reason to keep track of appearances at Final Fours. To them, beating Syracuse a lot is their claim to fame.
I really don't care about the "blueblood" title. Indiana will be considered a blueblood forever, but their actual performance hasn't been up to Syracuse's standards for the better part of thirty years.
I just prefer that programs with at least a little bit of basketball reputation and history never act like Vermont or Richmond do when they knock Syracuse out of the tourney.
I'll be pissed if Syracuse wins and nimrods rush the court.
