Your going backwards by firing the coach who got you into the playoffs 2 years in a row after 7 years of hell!!! Second Joe Johnson is a free agent, "What do you think he's going to do after that front office move"? Third i guarantee everyone on that team will be trying to bail now,why because of the front office!!!! Don't fix it if it aint broke!!!!!!!!!!!
The Hawks realize that mike has helped them a lot, but everyone beleives that he has reached his limit. Yes, hes got us to the playoffs, but now that we're there we need to move on, which it seems like he can't do.
Also, after all of this build up, nobody will be bailing on this team yet. I just hope Joe stays, and to get that all we have to do is offer enough money.
Its just going to be very interesting to see what happens next season.
Yeah, you don't hear to many people trying to claim that the league fixes things for the "big markets" or fixes the lottery blah blah blah anymore.
The Knicks, Lakers, Nets, Miami.....are all not very good to downright horrible and the Knicks have been no better than mediocre for a loooooong time now and their rebuild and the Lakers are both going to be long affairs.
The leading teams don't really have any one big sizzling superstar but are playing more balanced team ball as well.
The Hawks are for real. Thanks to League Pass I have watched quite a few of their games. They are not beating teams by accident. Their ball movement is excellent. Their spacing is great. Everyone is active. And while few think of them as a defensive team they are actually one of the best defensive teams in the league.
It won't be a easy for Chicago. One thing is for sure. Atlanta won't be intimidated. They have solidly beaten some of the best teams in the league, including some Western Conference contenders. Chicago won't show them anything they haven't seen yet. It will be a good match up.
From another thread but hey...This team is very fun to watch
Some people think that this team is a fluke but Budenholzer had this take the 1 seeded Pacers to 7 games last year. Also, Brent Barry made a good point about these Hawks...Mike Budenholzer knows the West very well so it really shouldn't come as a shock (or tooo much of a surprise) that he schemes and executes well against them. Atlanta just wants a good product to support and the city doesn't need a "super star" player...we just want a team that plays well and cares about results. Watching Joe Johnson isolation plays and Josh shoot bricks was a garbage product. This team has insane movement and it's entertaining.
Apparently, coach McMillan and Trae weren't seeing eye to eye so wasn't surprised he was let go since they weren't doing well this year. I just don't see how Snyder is the answer.
Less than a week after firing Nate McMillan, the Atlanta Hawks already found their next head coach, hiring Quin Snyder — formerly of the Utah Jazz — on a five-year contract, according to ESPN. The deal includes a pact for the rest of the season, where he’ll take over the team as soon as Tuesday against the Washington Wizards. Snyder reenters coaching after resigning from the Jazz last June following yet another end-of-season collapse. Snyder took the reigns in Utah prior to the 2014-15 season and helped lead the franchise’s best run since the John Stockton and Karl Malone era ended in the early 2000s.

I would have picked Idoka. Don't let him start until the season is over out of respect for Boston's suspension. But give him the off season to get the team ready for next year. Maybe Idoka was not interested.
