Hope y'all can help. We may be moving back to LA after several years away, and it looks like BR. We're a young family with 2 elem. aged kids.
Looking for areas of town with families, things to do, good schools.
Also, suggestions for good Catholic schools?
Thank you!

What is your price range? Do you know yet where you all will be working?

St. Aloyisius, St. Jude, Most Blessed Sacrament, Our Lady of Mercy, St. Louis King of France, St. Thomas More, St. George, St. John Vianney, St. Alphonsus, and Christian Life Academy are examples of good private Elementary schools in Baton Rouge

Based on my research (cuz we may move to ZACHARY where the company has moved its facilities), I'm fortunate that ZACHARY has been rated #1 Top Schools in the state of Louisiana. I's about 20 mins north of Baton Rouge city perimeter...(The bigger question is, where does Louisiana rate in the country's school rankings?)

Again, Ill clarify that Louisianas problem is that the bad schools drag us down significantly in the rankings. We are pretty much bottom of the barrel, although I have to say, if your child is particularly smart, he/she will likely be recommended to attend certain schools offering a program called "gifted" which is a more advanced curriculum and a better environment to learn than typical public school. I was enrolled in this program growing up and it definitely helped me to avoid the worst schools altogether around Lafayette.

I found one article on google that placed Louisiana in the bottom five (along with places like D.C, Mississppi, Alabama, etc.) but said article was also worded in a very unprofessional, offensive manner. Therefore, because the opinion inserted into the artcile was predjudiced, to say the least, I find myself questioning the information it used.

Fear not, I will continue to hunt for a 1-51 ranking that seems unbiased. Not that I'm expecting Louisiana to round out the top five, or anything. In fact, I'm fairly sure that with the all the bad districts we have, we will at least be in the bottom 10 overall. I just want to make sure whatever link I post seems as objective as possible.
