It means that after 6 months they can go back to life without ride sharing services if they feel like it. Uber has already stated that it may effect how they invest their services in the city because they know they can be kicked out after 6 months. That is unfortunate but hopefully will not hold us back much.

From a pessimistic perspective: All it will take is one incident in a car and that will be the ammunition the city council needs to use mirrors to make it look worse than it is and kick Uber right out

From a devil's advocate point of view.

Why did they put that caveat in at the 11th hour? It gives them an out for any reason they want... including corruption that they dress up as some sort of problem on the end of ride sharing services.

Well hopefully Uber and its employees will mind their P's and Q's and it won't matter. There's no conspiracy at work here, just some CYA regarding a company that has a less than stellar track record.

Re: Uber's less than stellar track record.

If one person was killed every week in an Uber car, the service would still be saving hundreds of lives annually because of the reduction of DUIs.

But since Uber isn't the only game in town this conclusion you have made up is a fallacy.

Ah ha ha ha. That has nothing to do with here or just Uber, slick.

I guarantee you if an Uber driver makes local headlines for being a sexual deviant, radical islam activist or escaped con they'll be told to pack their stuff and bounce. And it wont matter how many lame "studies suggest" click bait internet links you can dig up.

The point, that you missed is that another ride sharing company could fill the role. One that is more diligent with background checking.

And the point YOU missed is that *everything* I said was TRUE. And not some stupid clickbait study. Actual study by a university that shows a measurable decrease where *UBER* operates.

And what you just said just proves my whole point. That just once incident and the city council will look to get rid of these ridesharing companies despite the fact they are proven to save lives.

You've been proven wrong. Go back to making posts about how Birmingham already has the money to build a dome.
