What team is going to play in it?
I would imagine UAB will play in it, probably the Birmingham Bowl, probably some soccer teams, World Games will have some presence there. They will probably play a lot of high school events there too.

This is only a good thing for Birmingham and LONG overdue. I would not mind my own team, Mississippi State, trying to play a neutral site game there once in awhile.

Yeah... I guess if you weren't aware that Protective was a company then it would be silly...

...but there are tons of silly corporate venues. That's how it goes.

Bowl game names are equally corporate.

My personal favorite was the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl from a few years back.

Yeah, one would have to be the village idiot to not see the value of this.

Here are a few names that are actually ridiculous. Enjoy:

Smoothie King Center, New Orleans Pelicans
Guaranteed Rate Field, Chicago White Sox
KFC Yum! Center, Louisville Cardinals
Talking Stick Arena, Phoenix Suns
University of Phoenix Stadium, Phoenix
Dick's Sporting Goods Park, Denver
Little Caesars Arena, Detroit
University of Phoenix Stadium is an appropriate name for a university stadium IMO.

Talking Stick Arena sounds like a PC nod toward western Indian culture -- or maybe not so Pc.

Dick's Sporting Goods sounds appropriate for a sports venue

Little Caesar's evokes the Coliseum and the Hippodrome -- gladiators and chariot-racing, so, traditional.
.
Unless the people who named it were thinking of Edward G. Robinson and gangsters ... which brings one right back to the Polo Grounds and Shea and Yankee Stadiums and Madison Square Garden ...
