Hate to say this Boisefan, but nothing near the magnitude that we see....I know that is the very thing that makes your rump itch, but it is reality. Don't let "what may happen" and "how it use to be" rob you of your joy...life is way too short. (That's just my observation from your posts and numerous direct messages sent to me warning me about the two, I mean few people so anti-growth that you can't take anything they say serious). Too many people love that large metro rat race to move away, and those that do will just make Boise a better place with just a few more people than it was use to!! I do not know why some can not see Boises location on the map will alway ensure limited (I know, by who's definition?) growth. The whole country will continue to grow against many people's wishes, but just think if your parents never gave you the opportunities that you and others so jealously gaurd. I will be there visiting with my family Nov. 20-26 and would enjoy spending a few hours at a coffe shop with a few people of differing opinions about Jobs, growth, quality of life ect. With any luck the conversation may go right to cycling and fly fishing...

How exactly are you forming your opinion about what Boise is and isn't?

I've been to California once, and that was over one weekend. I do miss TJ's from when I lived in Seattle. They have a lot of store brand products that I like and you can't buy anywhere else.

I have a co-op membership and I do like shopping there and finding new products but their prices are so expensive. As it is, I buy most of my groceries at Winco or Fred Meyer.

A few friends, lots of conversation with chamber members, air quality folks, utility companies, professional contacts with law enforcement there, countless hours of emailing with people on this board and other's like fly fishing and cycling clubs, and endless sifting through these threads...may not be news to some, but the internet has a couple of bits of information that helps those interested in learning about most anything. Oh, and I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night!

Maybe I do a bad job, but I try making generalized statements that anyone with common sense can figure out....and I pride myself in sniffing out those people that want to keep others from moving there.

We have spent weeks traveling mid and E. Idaho, W. Yellowstone, Bozeman/big sky/livingston Mt. Camping, fishing, cycling, ski/boarding, snowmobiling. I can not imagine Boise being any less of a paradise with it's mild winters, so we have missile lock on it.

To get back on topic, Trader Joe's is awesome and a perfect fit for any fitness/ health minded community. I hope there is one on every other corner by the time we move there. Is that what you wanna hear, or shall I stick to scolding fellow Californian's for not going out of their way to honor native Idahoans desires that appear obvious, at least here.

After buying things at TJ's a couple of times, I won't go back.

Any packaged or canned product I bought was just...off. Canned vegetables were spiced poorly; packaged grains tasted as if the natural oils in them had gone slightly rancid. Nothing was horrible...it just was of an inferior quality and taste. I don't know if there's a Whole Foods in Boise, but I'd push hard for that. Expensive, but everything's great. What's cool about TJ's says it all: Two Buck Chuck.
This article is ridiculous. Trader Joe's products are NOT as described in this post! Their products are not inferior quality and taste...sounds more to me like a Whole Foods fan trying to downgrade Trader Joe's and tout Whole Foods. The majority of Trader Joes foods have no preservatives, no additives, and they ARE organic and priced much more reasonably than Whole Foods. Please go to Trader Joe's for yourself people and judge them...do not believe this erroneous post!

I agree it's a matter of perspective.

About the pm's: I think you'll find that I've been more right than wrong in my opinions in the past. We've had people on here cheerleading the many virtues of Boise to the point it went against reality and these people were burned - mostly because of the job situation.

But I've been right in other cases as well.

I guess it's up to you who to believe, however.

Second hand knowledge is well and fine for your own personal use, however, it's ignorant to try and speak for Idahoans and "scold" posters when it's your only frame of reference.

Absorb all you can from your sources but save the judgement until you spend some time here.

That is like telling a college graduate to keep silent and absorb all he/she can at their new job because they do not have anything of value to offer anyone yet. Are you $%^&I*@ joking?

It's not the same at all. The new college grad is actually at the job. You, however, are nowhere near Boise.

A more fitting analogy would be a new college grad, with zero work experience, telling people exactly what it's like to be an investment banker.
