I have just started "The Stranger in the Lifeboat" Mitch Albom

I like it, the 10 of them are in a life boat, after a yacht explosion,

they rescue a stranger who is floating in the water,
who claims to be "The Lord"

I am really liking it so far, it is completely holding my interest.

Definitely Miss Benson's Beetle was not up to the level of Harold Frye and or Queenie Hennessy and as I shared, Miss Benson took a bit of suspending logic to make it work. ...but it was a sweet read.

Someone had recommended Stupid Things I Won't Do When I Get Old. It was ok but I didn't find it overly enlightening. I did like a few of the chapters more in the beginning and I ended up skipping a few as well.

I am starting the Invisible Life of Addie Larue. So far , very good. (but it's a long one so I hope it keeps me).

"The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt.
Pulitzer Prize. 30 pages in, you can tell why. It's magnificent already....and 700+ pages.

Hi Mayvenne,

Did you happen to read "The Music Shop" by Rachel Joyce? It was my favorite one by her, even more so than Harold Frye and Queenie Hennessy.

Interestingly, I too, have "The Invisible Life of Addie Larue" in my stash from my most recent library visit. I'm hoping it's a winner!

One of my favorite books. There's an older thread about it here: https://www.city-data.com/forum/book...nna-tartt.html

Thank you, CA4now (get outta there girl!!! CA that is).
A friend's mother gave me this book. She recently passed away. Inside the front cover was a greeting card that she, or someone, had bought, I guess, with a 'painting' of a goldfinch. I will treasure this forever.

I see you noted in the other thread that there was a movie. I saw that on Netflix but Hubs never wanted to watch it. Now that I have the book, I will watch it when I'm done with the book. The book is always better. Funny, too, becuase I think Nicole Kidman is the mother in the movie and as I started the book I was picturing her as the Mom.
