I was wondering if anyone on here moved to Boston from the Seattle area. What was your experience like? What are the pros and cons? How are the cities alike? How are they different? Are you glad you made the move?

I did a forum search and only found two or three threads on this subject, so I thought it would be worth starting another.

I cannot answer this as I have never lived in Seattle. Only visited several times and found it to be a fantastic city and metro area.

Any questions a non-Seattle person could help get answered?

No reverse commuters in Boston! The traffic is crazy in one direction and deserted in the other!

Well, I've done quite a bit of research about Boston and read a good number of threads on this forum. So I feel relatively well-informed about the city, or at least as informed as is possible without having visited. I was just curious what the transition was like, moving from Seattle to Boston. Since you offered, though, how do you feel about living in Boston?

Steve, have you checked out the General US forum and the city vs. city subforum here on C-D? Seems to me I've seen Seattle-Boston comparisons there. You could also try starting your thread over there since it isn't getting any traction here. I will say that both cities suffer from perceptions of being hard places to make friends. In New England they (newcomers, that is) talk about the natives being reserved. In Seattle they talk about the Seattle "freeze". Yada yada.
