Lincoln isn’t why the statue came down. It was the depiction of the freed slave that people didn’t like.
Why do they not have a problem with a city square named after a nation of slavers? Nubia was exactly that, a large strong tribe that slaughtered and enslaved weaker neighboring tribes. Or is slavery only bad when perpetrated by evil Yakub spawns and that “milder, kinder” slavery where you’re not only owned like chattel but also slaughtered like cattle endemic to Africa is perfectly fine?

Let's try one more time - why is some slavery bad while other slavery is perfectly acceptable? White slaveowners - bad, Columbus, bad, Nubian rapists, murderers and slavers - good! That's like renaming Hitler Square to Himmler square because nazis are bad.

Slavery is always bad, but Nubia existed in a time where everyone everywhere had slaves. Human rights weren’t a thing back then. American slavery was worse because by then people supposedly knew better.
Moreover, one can assume that A Nubian Notion was named after an idea of Nubia as being a wealthy, powerful, African civilization rather than facts about the actual historic kingdom from 1200 BC.
Lol at this thread. Y’all give me so much cultural insight...and laughs.
It’ll be interesting to see how long you can remain mad at stuff thats 100% inconsequential to your own lives...or how long you can be mad at shifting cultural norms. I’d imagine this is somewhat conversations amongst “normal” segregationists sounded like in the 60s...
“We gotta share a drinking fountain? smh-WHERE DOES IT END!?”

So some slavery is history of a proud nation and other slavery is eeevil I tell you, eeevil even though they're in the same timeframe, when human life wasn't worth anything? Because let's face it, human life had zero value until very, very recently - we're talking decades here, not even centuries. Can't have it both ways bud - either apply the same standard to all historical figures or take your standards and shove them deep up your ass.
