It's going to take time to break those habits across entire societies, but police should be early adopters of this and yet they're not. The idea of a black in a majority white community should not suspicious to a police officer as they should be trained to find the actual suspicious cues. Profiling's a problem because it has lumped in things like race as a suspicious cue. If profiling were purely based upon things people do, it would be fine, but it's come to include things people are, and that's not ok.

Someone with shifty eyes and shuffling a gun hidden in their pants should be suspicious. Being black in a majority white neighborhood should not be suspicious.
A black person in a white neighborhood on its own should not be suspicious. Now if police are in the area and get a call to be on the lookout for a black man don't you think he should be questioned?

Happened to me twice in one year when I was cutting through residential streets in late evening, funny enough both times on Woodbine St. Your stop light is out, quick glance in the car, license and registration, you're free to go, make sure you fix your light. Needless to say no light needed to be fixed but white guys in places where they're typically not seen late at night unless drugs are involved tend to have iffy stop lights. Getting pulled over is not great but it's simply par of the course in a high-crime area flooded with drugs and illegal guns.

On the other hand a white person looks suspicious in a place like mattapan as well...i actually know cops who have pulled over white guys in roxbury/mattapan for solicitation or drugs.

None of this has anything to do with the fact that Chauvin could have taken his knee off Floyd's neck and he didnt.
The statie wasn't on the lookout for anyone *eye roll* that's not why I was pulled over. He made that clear.

Racism doesn't exist unless the person tells you they're being racist?

He probably thought you were smoking pot.

thank you. Of course I wasn't smoking weed-that would have been central to my story and he would have mentioned it.

I have to admit I've seen and smelled a lot of black men smoking in their cars, any time of day. I'm not judging but it is illegal and it is a reason to get pulled over.

I honestly have not seen this done by other folks...just black men.
