Maybe JP could or should be lumped in with the ever notorious Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan? It seems to me on the precipice at times over many years?

I lived there in two places in 1983-84 and 1984-85 with roommates and housemates.

Never had an issue then, I admit.

But parts of JP border Roxbury and Dorchester, of course. Yes, I realize some or most parts of Dorchester and Roxbury are actually "decent" and relatively safe..but still. Too close for comfort in parts of all those spots at times, no?

And Boylston Street in JP is an overall decent area, or most of it, from my taxi and Uber days. But still too close to Jackson Square, Amory and Lamartine Streets, some of which are a bit sketchy?

Yeah that area is still heavily influenced by Bromley Heath.

Hmmm...was it a...umm.. "theme night"? I think over the years they've had Latino, gay, international and maybe other themes on certain nights there.

Who'd ever want to buy a condo next door at the W hotel or rent at the luxury apts. nearby at 45 Stuart (known as AVA) or 660 and 665 Washington St. nearby.

Panera Bread diagonally across in recent years instead of the 7-Eleven prior seems to have improved the area -- but I'm not sure at times.

Well when you only have a few clubs that everyone goes to and bumps into the same crowd regularly- it makes it very easy for beefs to be continued and for people to know exactly when you’re going to be.

Add to this you push everyone out the door at 2am so there no gradual let out and people are still wide awake and full of energy at 2am and you get these sort of things goi by on. I understand this wasn’t in the late night but in general that’s an issue in Boston.

More spots would disperse and randomize the crowd a bit: later let out would have people voluntarily leaving when they’re tired and create less chaos at 2am.

The stabbing victim died by the way. Boston’s 40th Homicide of the year. Last year ended with 39 homicides

In this case I feel non if this applies because the moxy is kind of random… and the victim is from Weymouth he’s not a frequent club goer from the inner city.

There you go, the problem we have here is that we provide too few places for violent offenders to frequent. ^
The city needs to develop more nightclubs to give violent offenders a place to go where they won't be tempted to kill or maim someone they have a problem with.

They're apparently still on the lookout for this guy who punched someone so hard in the head the guy required brain surgery:

This was on Tremont st after bars/clubs were let out. Sounds like a fun night.
