I thought he tried to run the bikers over? That’s definitely not harmless. An 82 year old with a car can be just as deadly as a 32 year old with a car. Maybe moreso considering the slowing of reflexes etc that happens with age.

It's certainly not hard to imagine that you would actively discriminate against someone based on age, or potentially any number of other factors.

Is it discrimination to talk about the dangers of being elderly and behind the wheel? My grandfather got in a bad accident because he hit the gas when he meant to hit the brake. It happens.

Yes, because many elderly people are quite competent. Here, you've chosen to victim-blame because the person is aged, despite no material evidence to the support it except your biking canard and a reference to a blog. BTW I have biked thousands of miles of in this city and have been nearly wiped out by angry drivers of all ages.

What's the source of that, some anonymous clown on the internet, on a site run by a leftie geezer who has lost the last few of his marbles in 2016?

Yeah can't help but feel like this is massive victim blaming. I think it's more likely people claimed he tried to run them over while he was actually trying to evade them. How weird to try to apologize for this behavior.

Bottom line is nobody here was there, saw it or do we have any video at this time showing exactly what took place or led up to it. It's all anybody's best guess. What we do know, is an elderly man was severely beaten and injured. And I agree that any victim blaming is disgusting.

That's terrible...i havent read any articles that imply he was trying to run them over. Even he swerved at them for whatever reason (he's 82, could be losing it) he's still an 82 year old man. They are the ones on the bikes...just drive away or go in another direction. The poor man did not deserve what he got.

Boston has become a sad place.

Not arguing the behavior is unacceptable. My larger point is I don’t think these guys are randomly beating folks up.

That being said I don’t dislike the dirtbikes on the road in general but they have to obey the rules of the road. No swerving/weaving, no driving on the yellow lines, no circling, no swarming, no driving the wrong way up and down the streets.

https://www.universalhub.com/crime/2...sness-andrew-tTeens charged with beating man into unconsciousness at Andrew T station

“Transit Police report three teenagers for beating a man officers found lying face down, unconscious, in the Andrew Square station busway shortly before 11:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Officers ascertained the victim encountered a group of approximately 15 juveniles while passing through the busway and was set upon and violently slammed to the ground striking his head on the cement curbing knocking him unconscious. While on the ground two additional male juveniles kicked and punched the victim in the head. The group then fled the area.

Police say responding officers "located a large group of juveniles inside the South Bay Mall parking lot." Based on witness descriptions, officers found the three involved in the beating - a 17 year old from Mattapan, a 14 year old from Hyde Park and a 16 year old from Dorchester - and arrested them for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.“
