They took over Southbridge too with worse results, apparently.
I was going to say Chelsea as well from what I had heard, at least it had some success for a while.

If they'd gone to BPS, they couldn't possibly be educated well enough to ever become a CEO. Unless of course maybe they went to Boston Latin.

I worked for a non profit that basically operated as for profit and i can remember they did stuff like donate canned goods and asked people to bring in some old coats to donate. God forbid any of the CEOs ever take some of their pay for a year to help out those less fortunate. And I don't want to hear 'maybe they do' unless you have proof.

you hear of alumni from certain colleges donating millions to the school they once attended and sometimes I wonder why did they choose to give their money to that of all things? Do colleges really need that much extra money with what they charge for tuition? I realize donating to a college keeps the scholarships going...but I'm just saying it would be nice if someone donated some millions to BPS rather than to Umass amherst or Harvard.
Latin school alumni are sent donor letters, receive phone calls asking them to donate.

So there are no graduates of BPS who have gone on to have high up well respected jobs at Boston based companies?

It seems like people will do anything to not have their kids go to BPS these days. A woman I know who lives in Boston is white and her current partner is white. Her son who looks white to me was going to school in like Winchester or something. Someone asked how is he going there if you live in Boston? She said Metco. The person asked how?? (lol) and she explained the father of child is Latino. It was kind of an awkward conversation but i guess she will have to expect those type of questions from some these days.

Lawrence? Another shining beacon of school quality, causing thousands to flee expensive Andover? This same Lawrence that gets badmouthed constantly?

How was success measured in Lawrence and Chelsea?

Paul English is one successful BLS alum who graduated in 1982. Pre 1970, I think BLA was still Girls’ Latin.

Lawrence was absolutely dysfunctional in 2012. It gets badmouthed for good reason but its schools and the city has improved on every metric dramatically since 2012. Boston today is not nearly as bad as Lawrence circa 2012. In 2012 Lawrence had a 54% 4-year graduation rate up from 37.9% in 2008.

Its now 83.8%.

Succes was being measured by MCAS scores, Graduation rate and ELL student success. Other factors too im sure.
