Yeah, why trust the source who actually runs the lab and has been safely managing numerous lethal infectious diseases for ages, right?

Hence are born conspiracy theories.

You're kidding, right? You said something about credibility earlier. Would you have read the Enron Newsletter to learn about the activities it was implicated in? Would you rely on Chinese State news for information about the Wuhan Lab? To coin a phrase from one of your idols: Come on man!

So we just always trust a place just because they're a university or a pharma company? Ha.

I attended one of their grad schools. That doesn't mean I trust every component of their organization for life with every possibility. Organizations are run by people and people are subject to fallibility and corruption.

80% kill rate? This was clearly a whack job of a report by "journalists" who don't understand science but are fed by the backdrop of "Fauci funded Wuhan to unleash this on Trump so that Biden could win." C'mon man.

Actually, it was an article based on the research in pre-print and which in part reads:

This study provides important insights into Omicron pathogenicity. We show that spike, the single most mutated protein in Omicron, has an incomplete role in Omicron attenuation. In in vitro infection assays, the Omicron spike-bearing ancestral SARS-CoV-2 (Omi-S) exhibits much higher replication efficiency compared with Omicron. Similarly, in K18-hACE2 mice, Omi-S contrasts with non-fatal Omicron and causes a severe disease leading to around 80% mortality. This suggests that mutations outside of spike are major determinants of the attenuated pathogenicity of Omicron in K18-hACE2 mice. Further studies are needed to identify those mutations and decipher their mechanisms of action.

Where is the conspiracy theory, and why is everything that challenges your orthodoxy regarded as such? Seems like a logic-fallacy you rely a lot on to dismiss the relevance or credibility of something you dislike.

Ages? That facility was built around 2008.

Long enough to have very secure protocols in place.
