Force companies to pay people to sit home? OK.

If you are able to work form home. you should
if you are able to take the T. you should
if you are able to ride your bike. you should
it all adds up. it all helps.

what doesn't help is discouraging people from doing anything but driving.

I personally agree with all that, however I don't think society is taking WFH seriously anymore.

Many places aren't. I do see a good amount of people on linkedin listed as 'remote' so they are out there...but it feels like Boston is anti remote and it's hard to understand why given our horrible commutes. And it's amazing that so many side with the corporations. Whoever is making the decision is their butt in the office every day? And dont say yes, because in many cases no one know where exactly these folks sit.

It's ignorant to say places don't want to pay people to 'sit at home'. But it's ok to pay them to sit through grueling traffic while they pollute the earth, possibly cause accidents, waste money on gas to come and sit in an office?

What's so bad about driving? Are we in mourning about the prosperity the Petroleum Age has engendered? Why are we punishing ourselves?

nothing. I drive. A lot. my work commute is 6 miles from one side of Boston to the tip of Cambridge. I sometimes use MBTA (which takes the longest) Biking takes me about 10 minutes more than driving, but on some days i like it a lot better. I am not part of the "cars are killers" crowd. That is non sensical. just like the "cyclists are a holes " crowd
