Love Oleana in Inman Square and Dali not too far from there. Dali may be my very favorite...such a fun, lively atmosphere and I'm a sucker for tapas...

Oh there's so many -

Brown Sugar Cafe?
Union Oyster House?

Union Oyster House is the one to go to if you go to only one. It's been there for 200 years, they must be doing something right.

Lol at Anna's. There are so many good places to in Boston, depends what you're looking for: thin crust pizza - The Upper Crust. Both Zaftig's and The Friendly Toast serve breakfast at all times. The service at The Friendly Toast leaves something to be desired, so be prepared to deal with it, but the food makes up for it. The Union Oyster House is great. Shiki, rarely mentioned, has to have some of the best Japanese food ever. It's a nice place, only sits about 25 people. Just depends what you're looking for.

Touristy, I know, but I like the ambiance of Pizzeria Regina in the North End. Everyone says the pizza is better there -- with the supposedly original and well-seasoned oven - but I find the authenticity of the food court locations equal. Touristy perhaps, but many locals rate it Boston's best pizza for a reason.

The original North End site is cramped and sometimes dirty (discarded napkin and straw wrappers on the floor, along with dirty tables begging to be bussed), but I like the small hectic pace and the adjacent bar with a sporting event on the tv. They now sell slices during weekday lunch hours. I like that it's hidden in the middle of the neighborhood away from any other restaurants. Plus, their neon sign is a landmark (also like the xmas lights with the big round clear bulbs strung over and around the entrance).

It's fun to see the lines of visitors, often visiting baseball fans wearing their team's logo.

I don't like the Union Oyster House at all, but the tourists sure do! I think that's its key to longevity.

So many good places these days....Neptune Oyster, No. 9 Park, Coppa, Eastern Standard, Craigie on Main, Ten Tables.....depends on my mood and my budget, really.

Yeah, I'd have an easier time breaking it down by my budget. Overall, there are many.

For Japanese I always find myself craving O Ya (and sometimes Oishii in the South End), though I may not be able to afford it. Late nights at the Beehive. Locally (Brigham Circle) I like the Savant Project (try "the Brunette"). Temple Bar in Harvard Square is fun too. For Italian, I like Terramia in the North End.

Its too hard to name just one, so here is my top 5.

1. Craigie on Main (Central Square)
2. Neptune Oyster (North End)
3. O Ya (Leather District)
4. Taiwan Cafe (Chinatown)
5. Orinoco (South End & Brookline Village)
Honorable Mention: Hungry Mother (Kendall Square)

If I was forced to choose just one I would go with Craigie.
