I don't know why people are so pessimistic. The money is definitely still there and they are both relatively still in their respective peaks in the sport.
I think if the Pacquiao/Bradley rematch gets made for April and Pacquiao wins, I think boxing fans could very well likely see a Mayweather/Pacquaio card in September.
Arum isn't the only one holding up this fight from happening. Floyd is just as much if not more to blame. While Floyd continues to insist the fight is not important or relevant, fans have expressed otherwise. If he thought he could beat Manny so easily he would have fought him five years ago.
As to the tax evasion allegations, likely much ado about nothing.
Bleacher report is notorious for shining Floyd's knob. He hasn't had a legit KO victory since Hatton back in 2007. I won't count the KO of Ortiz. I doubt he would KO Manny if he couldn't KO a faded DLH while in his prime, a shot Cotto, and a smaller Marquez. The only way he wins is staying on the outside with his jab and slipping in a right hand now and then. Floyd isn't a big one punch knockout guy and he is not a pressure fighter when in against a skilled opponent. If he wins it is likely a majority or split decision.
Honestly, I don't think it would be a very entertaining fight. I see a lot of running and chasing and not a lot of clean punches landed by either of them. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it go down, but at this point whoever wins is going to be criticized for not beating the other guy in his respective prime. It has all the hype and build up of the Hopkins/Jones rematch along with the fight taking place too late to really prove much.
A bleacher report writer scripted the fight. In round by round description, he predicts Mayweather knockout in the 10th.
