Schools on the Space Coast? (Satellite Beach: closing, tax, living)

From my research, it looks as if the schools on the Space Coast (Satellite Beach, Indian Harbor Beach, some of Melborne, Merrit Island) perform very well. The cost of living is also cheaper than South Florida (which is why I am weighing out options) How will the closing NASA effect the schools in the area?

I'm not sure I see a correlation other than through tax dollars. School systems have consistently dealt with tax dollar shortfalls so I don't see it being much of an issue. The area is working hard to replace the lost jobs and is having some success luring in high-tech firms because of the skill level of the population.

NASA isn't closing just the space shuttle is ending. Funding is being cut but still working on developing a next program.
Back in the 60s/70s between projects the whole space coast was devastated. but today the area is more diversified. Tech companies don't just work on space stuff. Your HD TVs, a lot of transportation stuff, government projects, communications stuff,etc. . are developed here. We have more retired people and snow birds in the area who bring money to the area, too. So that means the service industry is larger than in the past.

Will it hurt us, sure the shuttle is our baby but everyone knew it was a program with a beginning and an end. Unfortunately we didn't realize that this time the government was going to bale out as much as it is. What a mistake to make space a private industry/ I still can't believe that the space station is basically going to be handed over to the Soviets because without them we won't even be able to get there.

Picky picky picky......lol Russia..... then-- The largest of the countries that made up the USSR. Soviet technology was responsible for first manned flight so the program basically is a Soviet program that was passed to Russia in 1991 just like the codes to the Soviet nuclear arsenal.
