"Given the national political gridlock over immigration policy, currently the only way into the country is to claim asylum. New York City's unique right to shelter law, which requires New York to house anyone in need, encourages arrivals to seek help here."

In which one was also an asylum seeker, by the way.

I literally posted a show on Saturday that touched on this whole issue: https://www.facebook.com/michael.bad...50592847799613
https://www.facebook.com/michael.bad...62443792510595

Again, this is really a federal issue that should have been addressed a long time ago and both side of the political aisle dropped the ball.

Again, this is not strictly a federal issue:

"Given the national political gridlock over immigration policy, currently the only way into the country is to claim asylum. New York City's unique right to shelter law, which requires New York to house anyone in need, encourages arrivals to seek help here."

My point is that it should be or at least the bulk of it, given that many of the migrants were sent to NYC and other cities, from other states.

New York is the only major city in the country that offers a legal “right to shelter” to anyone within its borders who requests it.

Why wouldn't a migrant head to NYC? The right to shelter law is not a big secret.

Again, how would they get in and then be able to get shipped? It wasn't like they came directly to NYC in many cases and in turn, it is an issue that impacts multiple cities/states. Hence, why it should be a Federal issue that they get involved with.

With that said, RocketSci made a great point about the process and many may also be sent back to their nation of origin.

Sorry ck but this is not a Federal issue - DT wanted a wall and to make sure people entered correctly - Dems like Hochul, Adams ect didn't want this.

Now a case of TB - what else are they coming in with - obviously the health screening in NYC wasn't done. This is in your backyard chk - stay safe.

No, it is Federal, because there are other borders people can come through and some have been going on to Canada. I literally posted an article about how some immigrants have been going into Canada near the Plattsburgh area and John Katko, a former representative in Congress from the Syracuse area has stated that the Northern border also has activity. The problem is that we get stuck on people at the top, when others has discussed the issue at other levels of government.

If other states are literally sending people to other states, it is obvious that it has been an issue in those states and they obviously knew where to send them to take the burden off of their states. This isn’t a new issue and has been going on during various administrations. So, they know, but don’t try to figure out a reasonable solution to the issue.

This also doesn’t get into the fact of International students/visitors that overstay their VISA as well.
