I'm not really into living where ostentatiousness is a way of life. I am, however, into dramatic scenery and being outdoors. If money were no object - and no, that doesn't have to mean "big money", to me it means not having to make my choice based on where I might MAKE money, it is hands down the Eastern Sierra . A nice spread of wide open land outside Mammoth or a beautiful mountain place in June Lake comes to mind. Yes, the Big Sur coast is awesome, but I need those dramatic mountains with the deep winter snows and the brilliant summer sun. My second choice... Santa Ynez Valley. Third choice, and a place I had the joy of living in for many years, the wonderful little Southern CA mountain town of Idyllwild. Big money is fine, but not necessary for me to live well... I'm good as long as I never have to see that word "bespoke" again

Possibly somewhere in the north - at least 100 miles north of the Bay.

If not there, I'd want to live in El Monte, because that would feel like home.

I'd move away asap. But if I had to stay, probably as far north as possible.
