Just out of curiosity, if money was no object, where in CALIFORNIA would you live & why? (The only thing that's mandatory is it must be somewhere in CALIFORNIA.) So far, I'd say a mansion by the beach, maybe in Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, or San Diego. Maybe Pacific Palisades, Holmby Hills, or Bel Air. Now, I haven't been in Northern CA much, so I'd have to see what that has to offer too.

Easy one for me - mansion in any of the hillside and canyon communities north of sunset in west Los Angeles - the best of LA within minutes and none of the downsides.

I'd still live in a neighborhood on a medium sized lot in the Conejo Valley. My parents and wife's parents live in the area so we'd be close to them. I like the community and the weather. I'd want to be in a community with neighbors so my kids would have friends to play with. I wouldn't want a huge isolated lot for that reason. Maybe North Ranch.
