More like $2500 for your family if the shortfall were divided evenly per person. But of course it wouldn't be even because you'll have to help cover the share of all the people who don't pay taxes.

Now, now no facts please. These folks don't want to hear any factual stuff.

One story after another about the grim situation that California faces. But any discussion on how our leaders might fix things? No. Any serious discussion on how our faltering situation will affect our lives? No. Just laugh and shrug it off. To be more accurate just laughing and shrugging by a few clowns who have nothing to do but support the CA establishment.

These jokers jump on every post to give us the establishment view. Like robots. Shameless.

If California can cut its unemployment rate in half, I bet most of these budget issues would go away. That would mean 1M more people earning wages, not claiming unemployment, or defaulting on mortgages.

I think CA still needs to overhaul its revenue base to reduce its reliance on income taxes.

And quit worrying about stuff like requiring state contractors to report whether they are gay owned or not.

This is the crap that happens when people cling to an ideology to the point where it becomes self-defeating and completely irrational.

Great your politics have won out, congratulations. We're broke, our education system blows, we're going to be tax slaves for pensioners, and you're the champions in the race to the bottom! Too bad that you've dragged the rest of California down with you.

You gotta give the CA Governor some props though for calling out to the people of his state, actually laying out the factual problems, & asking to stand up and help save it.

That's something our Country's President or better yet our federal government should do, instead of doing a pissing war...just for once put their differences aside, Democrat or Republican & fix the whole country's problem...because while they try and get on each other's faces, we the people & this country sink lower and deeper.

The Gov could actually attempt to bring business back to CA by cutting the tax on businesses. May hurt for the moment but bring back some much needed jobs and money to the state. He will cut welfare, he has to and education, which needs overhauling. Time to stop the insane state pensions as well. Or you watch businesses continue to flee. The increase in taxes on incomes over $250,000 would include small business owners...not a good idea.

We're just a few tax increases away from long term prosperity. Promise.

It's telling that the video of his address now has the comments moderated and the ratings disabled.

On our present course, this is the future:

An impossible 57% of Spain’s budget is devoted to pensions, unemployment benefits and interest
