A lot of chatter here about how the wealthy and businesses are "leaving California in droves" due to taxes. "Vote HELL NO!" etc etc etc ... "only the low income will be left behind" ... etc etc etc.

Think so?

Wealthy French entrepreneurs are preparing to leave France if the new proposed rate there takes effect. Read the article. Any whining sound familiar? Point being: there are a LOT of folks who would love opportunity to move to California. Chinese wealthy by the boatload, too.

Go ahead and get out, whiners. Unfortunately, there will always be many to take your places. Look at the international tax rates on the sidebar chart. Read a bit about the financial / tax attorneys who work advising Europe's rich.

Will they be like other wealthy who simply replace part of the tax base on property taxes but since they will be non residents will they avoid any income tax that the residents who leave did pay?

Many wealthy own homes here as vacation homes, but show a different State of residency and pay no State income tax.

If a wealthy resident leaves and someone buys his home, that is a zero gain in today's market on property taxes but a loss for the State if they do not claim residency for Tax purposes. That has already happened and any growth from such new wealthy is no guarantee the tax loss will truly be offset adding to the burden placed on those who are residents but not wealthy.

I think the point is; other places that actually have high taxes, are not as desirable as low tax states like California.

The cruel irony is France is the social service/engineering haven that California strives to be.

Sounds like you're the only one whining in this thread.

Sounds like a great group of people. They're welcome to come here and bump elbows with ya'll. Are these really the neighbors you want?

“French people have an uncomfortable relationship with money,” Mr. Grandil said. “Here, someone who is a self-made man, creating jobs and ending up as a millionaire, is viewed with suspicion. This is big cultural difference between France and the United States.”
Dare we ask what got them into this predicament? Nah. Lets just talk ****.

Taxes are high in France for a reason: they pay for one of Europe’s most generous social welfare systems and a large government. As Mr. Hollande has described it, the tax plan is about “justice,” and “sending out a signal, a message of social cohesion.”

So the moral of this silly thread is "no matter how much the CA government screws you don't complain. There's another dumb a$$ ready to take your place".

Yep and those are what I refer to as the CA cheerleaders. You had better like getting raked over or get out Real productive.

I am certain that those types of CA cheerleaders are the ones benefiting from our money and the screwed up system that pays their way through life to do nothing.

Nothing else makes sense for their hatred against those who want to see change happen in this state.

Nah. I'm not whining. I'm taunting. Stick around. The whiners will show up any minute to snivel about "socialism" and promote the idea that citizens should value their personal wealth over the good of the society that supports the foundation for their wealth.

Absolutely. People who hold themselves and their wealth as above their nation and culture are "a great group of people". Great what is the question, though.

Hell, I don't want ANY neighbors. Especially ones who have no loyalty except to money and can't be trusted.

Dare we ask members of a society to participate in solving problems rather than only serving themselves?

The point of the thread, of course, isn't any of what you address.
