Thank you for reducing population. Best regards and well wishes!

Consider moving closer to work, moving near a rail or bus line that goes to your work, finding a job closer to home, etc. We can't continue to subsidize machines that cause great harm to our planet, that's madness. This tax is just common sense - do the harm, pay the bill for it.
This sounds good in theory, but all of our infrastructure is built to support automobiles. I do think people are dumb and create self imposed nightmares with their marathon commuting...but many/most people are forced to drive despite their best efforts to minimize it.

I would also say this tax will get passed onto us in the form of higher prices of anything that needs to be transported. Typically, there are some efficiency gains made if the tax increase is stiff enough, but never anywhere near enough to offset the cost of the tax.

I DO wish people would make more effort to minimize driving and I DO see that happening, especially with younger folks.

But at the same time I, RESENT the government forcing this stuff down people's throats. It's not about the environment. Environmentalism is a smokescreen is about centralizing power, money, and control in the hands of government and crony capitalist elites (like Al Gore amongst others). It's about time people started seeing it for what it has become.

For the record, I live a block away from my job, so I have no regular commute and I drive an old economy car....so no pigeonholing please.

I already don't drive. I try to throw a few bucks at my buddy if we go on a long trip in his car.

I love walking, jogging, and riding my bicycle. I've been thru so much Midwest weather hell (summers and winters) in my lifetime that I'd go car-less if gas was free.

Word. And for everyone's knowledge, I don't drive a car anymore, period - I bike and/or use mass transit everywhere.
