Well sure some infrastructure will always fail. BUT, we need more low-cost labour for Jerry Brown's Bullet Train!! Also, since the State is trying so hard to eliminate ammunition we might want to update the train to the Slow Down Brown.

I wonder if that train cash could be used to build additional canals and reservoirs to ease the water problems in drought years? Or build desalination plants? I heard the Golden Gate bridge hasn't had rust proofing on some parts since the time it was built back in the 1930s?

I am just another curious taxpayer that wonders why the State wastes so much money on illegal entitlements and boondoggle projects. It is so mysterious the brain of Brown.

It's understandable that CA is mostly pro illegal immigration. It's pretend liberal country here. For those who are against illegal immigration, it's a lost battle to fight at the state level. You should fight at the national level and reach out to friends, acquaintances, relatives, and anyone you know from other states for their support. If the Presidential Election result is any indicator, Americans, nationwide, still care about this country and their voice matters.

As for a national immigration policy, here are somethings to mull over:

1. Do away with the automatic citizenship law. Birthright citizenship is an old idea that is being phased out by many countries. The US should phase it out too.

2. Strong border protection means less illegals coming through which means less tax money being used to find and deport people. Strong border protection also means that the crazy politics of CA will be less and less relevant. And it doesn't cost taxpayers a lot of money. With thermal imaging and drone technology, miles and miles of the border can be monitored with few staffers.
Law enforcement and military recruits can be asked to do one year of border patrol right after their academy and basic training. This will ensure a steady supply of border patrol staff at a minimal cost to taxpayers.

3. And finally the responsibility to enforce federal immigration laws should be written into the constitutions/laws so that the President and Congress must enforce the laws and can not be influenced by any foreign country, domestic terrorist group, special interest groups, etc. when it comes to our immigration laws. The penalty for failing to do their job should be impeachment.

Would be great to see the above done. There is at least a chance with Trump . I think Clinton would of been worse than Obama on being pro illegal immigrants .
At least we don't have to worry about that .

The first one is a tall order.....since it would require a 2/3 passing vote in the House & Senate, 3/4 of the states need to approve via their perspective legislatures.......in other words, it would only take 13 states to block it from happening.

I will add to your list a costly penalty imposed on those hiring individuals in this country illegally.

How about the sanctuary employers of illegals? Should they recieve meaningful punishment or just a slap on the wrist when caught?

They should be heavily penalized, but the Dems will never do it. They favor those who break the law and hurt the job opportunities of US citizens.

Have you heard of any employer in CA that has been heavily penalized . If anything there is a "raid" just for show to make it seem like they are doing something and then a slap on the risk .
Surely if you cut off their ability to gain employment that would be a big incentive to self deport or not come here illegally in the first place .

The problem now thanks to WEAK leaders and WEAK laws is that the risk is so low so people exploit and take advantage .

Both political share blame for immigration issue. I think it would really reduce the incentive for those trying to come here illegally if the prospect of finding a employer willing to hire was diminished considerably.

I agree it is for show or when someone makes a fuss they show they are doing "something".

Yet people keep voting the same people back into office based on "feel good" issues.

Well except Trump who was never in office, so it will be interesting.
