The important word in that paragraph is "I". Hey if you want to help other people, knock yourself out.

But when props 1, 2, and 4, passed, and 6 failed, now you're forcing ME to help them out. Which is a staple of the Democratic playbook, you spending MY money.

And in a civilized society, people look out for each other - especially the sick, weak, and/or elderly.

It is people like you that make life miserable for so many other people.

It's a moral issue.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money - Margaret Thatcher, Former British Prime Minister

They are not looking out for the people they take the tax from.

The constant use of this quote, by so many people, from Thatcher is hilarious. Like quoting the bible, the parrots assume everyone agrees with the source and message as infallible truth.

Truth is, however, that many socialized governments are doing exceedingly well economically, as well as providing great social benefits for their citizens. Prime case in point: Germany - worlds 4th leading GDP economy, with only 83 million people.

Exactly, try that with 330 million people, especially since 10 or 12 million don't speak the language, and have no real skills.

Like I said, you want to help people out, have at it. How many immigrant families are you hosting?

But your ilk are the only ones talking about Socialism. Back in the post-war period, as I pointed out earlier, the upper-middle class was paying 60-65% in taxes, lived very well, and the country's infrastructure was in good shape, science and medical R $ D were well-funded, State university systems were well-funded as were federal scholarship grants, and the economy was booming. This was very far from Socialism. In fact, the US was in a Cold War against Socialism.

Your lack of knowledge is increasingly apparent with each new post.

Quote:
As of 2014, about 16.3 million people with an immigrant background were living in Germany, accounting for every fifth person Of those 16.3 million, 8.2 million had no German citizenship, more than ever before. Most of them had Turkish, Eastern European or Southern European background.
The above was as of 2014. In the past 4 years immigrants have poured into Germany in greatly increased numbers ... with low skill sets.

Anyway, try what with 330 million people? Try becoming 4th largest world GDP? Bubba, we’re #1 GDP ... um, with 330 million population.

Who said I want to help people out? Maybe I do. Maybe I’m indifferent. Makes no difference to what I was pointing out about the quote: it’s stupid.
