It's all about the mask. After reading a news article about this guy who has been testing and reviewing masks, I decided to share this one video here for anyone who might be wondering whether the mask they're wearing is indeed a good one. Apparently, all those fashion masks that are selling don't do diddly squat to stop the virus.

This video shows two of the better masks to use. One, of course, you cannot get because they're being supplied to medical personnel only but there are some others that are almost as good and stop the virus. So watch it, decide for yourself if you want to re-think what you're wearing.

Eight of the top 10 states that saw the highest new cases per capita in October did not have a widespread mask mandate, as the chart below shows.

Why every state should adopt a mask mandate, in 4 charts:

It stands to reason those eight states near the top they're talking about might be doing better, at least as well as other similar states but of all 50, which is the gold standard? None by my observation. So maybe those eight states would be doing as well us but last I heard we're in dire condition and we've had a mask ordinance since June (earlier here in San Diego).

I'm not clear on what you mean by fashion masks.

My girlfriend got and gave several of those as stocking stuffers: she also has me take pictures of her wearing masks that match her outfits even when it's just the two of us just so she can show them off on social media. I prefer the plain disposable surgeon's masks over the cloth ones. More comfortable but I'll sometimes wear the plain black one she gave me. I refuse to wear any with patterns. I really hope the masks don't become a permanent fashion accessory.

Too late. Maybe not permanent but certainly a fashion accessory now. You can get them in all colors to coordinate with what you're wearing. Don't believe me? Look at Nancy Pelosi. She wears the most elaborate masks and they all match the suit she's wearing for the day.

All the fashion masks I've seen in stores, including the couple that I have, are 100% cotton, double sided, and seem safe. At the beginning of the pandemic when masks were harder to find, I sewed several, following the pattern and fabric guides on this website:

Well, good for you. You may think they seem safe but if they were, N95's would be available to everyone, not just medical personnel. Just sayin'
