A little background - I'm 18 years old and have allstate insurance on my car. I just have liability insurance since it's old and beat up, and my rate was about $100 per month just for liability. Anyways, my insurance was a 6 month policy from 12-25-10 to 6-25-11. My premiums are automatically paid each month out of my bank account, and the last premium went out on May 25th. Since this is the end of my insurance policy, what will happen next?
Will the insurance company send me some information regarding my policy and how to renew it, or do I have to take the action to renew the policy? I assume my rate will drop a slight amount since I turned 18 years old, and I was 17 when I first took out the policy.

Never assume when it comes to auto insurance. As a young male you are hung out to dry on insurance, we all were. With inflation they are likely to increase each year until you are 25.
Allstate usually uses a different vendor for insurance on new clients, they collect the payment from you but you were likely covered under a different company. I think they call it assigned carrier. Best to sit down with your agent and review the policy.
I don't know what insurance company doesn't automatically renew. And good luck getting it lower. 17 to 18 isn't significant and you're still a high risk. Wait until you get into your late 20's. Then after that you don't have anything to look forward to besides hair loss, heartburn and a beer gut.
